PATTAYA, Thailand – In a vibrant and health-focused celebration, Pattaya City and the Indian Association of Pattaya officially launched the countdown to International Day of Yoga with a special event titled “25 Days to International Day of Yoga”, held at Pattaya Beach.
Presided over by Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, the event drew a diverse crowd of Thai and foreign yoga enthusiasts, Indian business leaders, health advocates, and students from Pattaya City School 8 (Pattayanukul), all gathered to promote physical and mental wellness through yoga.
Laxman Singh, President of the Indian Association Pattaya, led the coordination alongside city officials, reinforcing the strong cultural ties and shared commitment to community well-being.
The United Nations first declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga in 2014, recognizing yoga’s benefits for health and harmony between humans and nature. Pattaya’s countdown event is part of a global celebration, aiming to spread awareness of yoga’s role in reducing stress, boosting mindfulness, and promoting holistic health.
Mayor Poramet emphasized the growing popularity of yoga in Pattaya and the importance of promoting peaceful practices that integrate mind and body. “Yoga is more than just exercise—it’s about balance, inner peace, and connection,” he said during the opening ceremony.
Participants of all ages joined in guided yoga sessions on the sand, creating a tranquil yet energizing atmosphere by the sea. The event not only spotlighted yoga’s universal appeal but also symbolized the strong friendship between the Thai and Indian communities in Pattaya.
As the city counts down to the International Day of Yoga on June 21, more yoga-related activities are expected to engage residents and tourists alike.
